Jose Honorato Lozana is a 19th Century Filipino painter who captured Philippine life during the Spanish colonial era through his distinct letras y figuras style. He is regarded by art historians and experts as a watercolorist whose strokes resemble fine Chinese painting techniques. Apart from his work with watercolor, he captured local life in the Hispanic scene in the traditional costumbrista style. Among his most revered works are: Tipos del Pais, Views of Manila and pieces from the Letras y Figuras series.
