Inaul, which means “woven” in both Iranun and Maguindanaoan languages, refers to the traditional women fabric known for its intricate geometric designs. It holds great significance as a symbol of status and dignity in the culture. Each piece of Inaul takes approximately 1-2 weeks to create especially the “Byaludan design”
These Inauls, made by Women of War (WOW)-Matanog (the infamous untold and forgotten other pace of conflicts, the suffering mothers, sisters, wives, widows and women of the battlefield) of the municipality Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte under the support and guidance of its founder, Zohria S. Bansil-Guro, who is currently serving as the mayor of the said municipality, showcase the excellence and skill of the weavers not only in Matanog but in the whole BARMM.
The use of Inaul fabric, with its various materials such as Tanor (cottony thread), Silky Rayon (super shiny thread) create stunning and unique pieces that are cherished for their cultural value and beauty.
